Burung cenderawasih jantan memiliki bulu yang lebih indah untuk memikat cenderawasih betina sebagai pasangannya. Burung yang menjadi maskot Papua ini memiliki warna bulu yang indah. Karena keindahannya itu burung cenderawasih konon jarang turun ke tanah dan lebih sering terbang hinggap di pohon.
